Welcome to information page for the
2024 9th Annual Operation Pilot Wheel | Adopt a Pilot
* 12/17 GOAL ACHIEVED *
32 BHS Students and 167 of their family members
4 WPE Students and 14 of their family members
have all been adopted !
This Christmas, you Captains and Community members all came together to make a difference in the lives of 32 Banning High School students and their 167 family members, as well as 4 Wilmington Park Elementary students and their 14 family members who are in need. By adopting a family, you brought warmth, joy, and love to their holiday season.
Additionally, we would like to thank Olga Gonzalez and Veronica Martin from the Parent Center. We were able to serve 15 Banning students and 45 family members, along with Johana Rendon and 4 Wilmington Park Elementary students, thanks to a year of collaboration with the ILWU Annual Christmas Party.
Finally, we extend our gratitude to Erick R. Ojeda Garcia, Wilmington Honorary Mayor, and APM Terminal 400 Los Angeles for the abundance of rollover food from GET STUFFED BOX and TO GO BOX.
We also acknowledge Banning High School, Banning H.S. CP Magnet, Banning H.S. ASB Leadership, and Banning H.S. Culinary Program for their contributions to the Pennies for Presents, as well as for providing socks and toiletries and volunteering their time. Special thanks to Ms. Rodriguez and Ms. Osorio for running this campaign, and Principal Adela Retana for allowing us to serve the needs of students and their families so they may thrive at school and home.
How You Did It:
-
You provided gifts and food for children to open on Christmas morning.
-
You contributed to their holiday meal, which brings everyone together.
-
You shared essentials that make their day-to-day lives just a bit easier.
Whether you participated as an individual, family, or group, every contribution—every repost, email, text, and word of mouth, whether big or small—created a lasting memory of this journey and made this season brighter. Together, we ensured that no one will be forgotten this Christmas.
You all turned the spirit of giving into a beautiful reality. Again, thank you all for making this holiday season magical for someone in need.
