What you need to know if you want to adopt. Thank you

Hi, its that time of year.

Please join me in supporting a noble cause? This 9th Operation Pilot Wheel - Annual Adopt a Pilot, were looking for Captains to Adopt Pilot families or make a monetary donation to fund this event.

Your contribution will make an impact, whether you Adopt a Pilot or Donate to a Pilot.

We are all going through something that is way bigger than we could even think about both physically and mentally. So, we should try to have normalcy.

Through self-care we must find what is needed to overcome the difficulties this causes. One way of self-care is through the selfless giving to others no matter how small. The rewards will be given back to you. Selfless giving through time, food, or money makes a difference in the world which feels so unstable currently. You can make an impact.

Christmas is a special time for young children, so we are focusing on them.

If you wish to Adopt a Family click on the guidelines above how the families are chosen and how you become a Captain.

If you have any questions please reach out through messenger on social media Facebook, Instagram or text 310-929-0368 or email at aneedywilmington@gmail.com. A family is considered adopted once confirmed by someone from A Needy Wilmington and taken off the adopt a family list

First, review the family. If you decide NOT to “adopt” the family, please do not choose a family. There will be others trying to adopt a family. So please don’t worry. (Or you may make a monetary donation to Operation Pilot Wheel instead platforms to donate are below) Sometimes two captains are asked to jointly adopt a family, usually because the family is very large and beyond the resources of one captain.  If this applies to your family, please let us know to coordinate.

IS CONTACT OR VISTING THE FAMILY IS ONLY AN OPTION IF THE FAMILY ALLOWS IT.  Unfortunately, you can’t see for yourself what is (and may not be) appropriate to their circumstances.  Most families are dealing with problems of unemployment, illness, or some other luckless condition. Some may not appear poor but may be burdened with the costs of devastating health problems.  Many are single parents. Regardless of the reasons for the family’s need, we know you will extend respect, kindness, and the love just as you would want others to treat your own family.

WHEN DOES IT NEED TO BE DELIVERED. Gift cards and any presents should be wrapped and dropped off at Banning High School on or before Friday , December 13, 2024 12:00PM  there will be no other extensions.

Finally. Lack of a “thank you” from the family does not necessarily signify lack of gratitude.  It’s difficult to depend on others for your family’s needs.  Sometimes it’s too embarrassing or awkward. In our eyes, no act of kindness requires a “thank you” from the recipients.

Your sacrifice has a tremendous psychological impact on your adopted family.  Should your situation change at the last minute, please call us immediately so that we do not leave a family without a Christmas.

May be you can't Adopt but still wish to help you can!

Not all student's and their families humble wishes will be granted, have a GET STUFFED BOX for the family Christmas meal, and extra food for the student's one week Christmas school break.

If you decide not to “adopt” a family or can't please don’t worry. You can make a monetary donation to Operation Pilot Wheel, GET STUFFED BOX instead any denomination is accepted. You can give as little as a dollar it goes a long way. Yes you can give anonymously.

The student and family member wish are small requests. Jacket, Clothes, shoes, basic toiletries, and basic household items.

Meal per person $15 - 20

Gift per person $50 - $60

On behalf of A Needy Wilmington Operation Pilot Wheel and Adopt a Pilot thank you for your kind and generous spirit.  Through this event we hope to bring love, kindness and a better happier pilot so he/she can excel.
